3.1 Philip Lim S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: A loose nod to gypsy flamencos and 90’s minimalism, designer Phillip Lim steered clear of pinning down a textbook mood board for his latest collection, instead letting his parade of pared-back separates and modern accessories speak for themselves.
POP-CULTURE NOD: U.N. Special Envoy Angelina Jolie prepping her speech over a double espresso at a hipster coffee shop ahead of speaking at the Sergio Vieira de Mello Foundation in Geneva.
WEAR IT TO: The Jane Hotel to present your interior design blueprint for the revamp of its dated lobby to management, before hopping to it and catching a seaplane to meet your friends in the Hamptons.
FIRST READ: Sleeveless trenches in spring-friendly hues, asymmetrical dresses with cheeky cutouts and belted detailing, and ruffled cropped tops felt right at home among the designer’s suite of signature looks – think crisp white shirts, throw-on tanks and babydoll dresses with billowy hemlines.
BEST LOOK: A navy-and-white striped sleeveless trench, cinched at the waist with a belt, worn with a white tee, menswear-style pants, a white cuff and matching statement earring.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Shoes included boots with buckles, slides with silver hardware and toe accents, sandals with a built-in half sock, while bowling-style clutches and leather bags with raffia raw edges rounded out the accessories mix.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Mia Moretti, Aluna Francis, Bryanboy, Young Paris, Liya Kebede, Diplo, Larsen Thompson.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “First thoughts? Inspector Gadget meets Gwyneth Paltrow on a Goop promotion tour. I love.”
COLOR WHEEL: Navy, black, white, silver, red, camel, chartreuse, beige.
