INSPIRED BY: Set inside the designer’s private two-story warehouse garage in Bedford Hills, N.Y., Lauren cited his car collection and the notion of them as moving art as the key influence behind his see-now, buy-now collection. The intersection of speed, style and beauty of his vintage gems were reflected in the suite of racing-style looks, which came with an auto-shop edge.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Morpheus in The Matrix meets Dick Tracy selecting a speed machine while on the hunt for evidence to prove Alphonse “Big Boy” Caprice is the city’s most dangerous crime boss.
WEAR IT TO: Perusing Aston Martins on a Sunday afternoon at the The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on the Monterey Peninsula.
FIRST READ: Houndstooth suits and men’s-style braces gave the show a vintage detective vibe, while tulle ball skirts worn with leather jackets and fall-ready parkas and trench coats played to the show’s Monaco Grand Prix theme.
BEST LOOK: A sunshine yellow winter coat, worn over a black tech-inspired drawstring hoodie, styled with a leather mini skirt, thigh-high suede boots and black shades.
