Naeem Khan S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Russian dancer Anna Pavolova and the notion of a ballerina on vacation. For reference, it’s said Pavlova traveled around 400,000 miles in the pre-air-travel age. Also behind the Swan Lake-like show was designer Khan’s recent vacation with a princess – cue the series of dreamlike looks that were fit for a castle wedding.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Misty Copeland being honored by The International Alliance for Woman as a global ambassador for the arts at a spring ceremony in Monte Carlo. Think Gwyneth Paltrow with a bucket bag on a yacht in The Talented Mr. Ripley.
WEAR IT TO: Saturday night in Positano among the flocks of women headed to al-fresco Franco’s Bar, where you’re sure to stand-out from the dozens of damsels checked skirts by Caroline Constas.
FIRST READ: Lace column dresses, pajama-style silk robes, and lingerie corsets worn with tie-up pants comprised a collection of separates capable of falling directly into the suitcase of a dancer with a valid visa, while tulle skirts, floral embroidered cropped tops and sheer, floor-length gowns with sequin applique elevated comfier looks into nighttime territory..
BEST LOOK: A strappless column gown with geometric print and raffia fringe tassels in lilac, navy and apricot, worn with crystal drop earrings and flowers in the model’s hair.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Ballet flats with ribbon detailing in sorbet shades, while a high-heel option was given the open-toe treatment.
