Brandon Maxwell S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Designer Brandon Maxwell cited his own recent happiness as the motivation behind the overly colorful collection, which branched out from his signature pared-back gowns.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kate Middleton receiving a bunch of daffodils from schoolgirls during a visit to a Welsh children’s center, before meeting a friend for a bridesmaid’s dress fitting via private jet in Mayfair.
WEAR IT TO: Strolling the floors of Bergdorf Goodman with your fiance to select the bling for your wedding registry shortlist, before hitting the Bridal Salon for an afternoon of champagne and trying on frocks with your girl squad.
FIRST READ: Daytime looks in the form of pastel blazers and deconstructed shirting, paired with treated denim and bold-colored heels, while one-shouldered body-con mini dresses and a series of white, floor-length gowns were more suited to happy hour at the trendy Sherry Netherland Hotel upstairs. Closing the show were cocktail frocks in candy-color hues and white wedding gowns with floral ivory embroidery.
BEST LOOK: Gigi Hadid in a front-tie silk draped skirt with a thigh-high split, worn with an agora sweater and crystal drop earrings, designed as part of a collaboration with jewelry line “Lunch at the Ritz” by Zander Elliot.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The set design included a pink floral arrangement in the shape of a tiger’s head, created by Nicholas Cogrel.
