GCDS S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The idea of a forward-thinking yacht club adopting a Soho House-style ‘no suit or tie’ policy, whereby members are invited to flex their sartorial chops before heading onto the high seas.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Cara Delevingne with a pair of Princess Leia top knots sitting next to Margot Robbie while on the Japan leg of the Suicide Squad press junket at the Tokyo Comic Con.
WEAR IT TO: The Jeremy Scott after-party at Flash Factory, followed by next-day recovery Bloody Mary’s in the sun at The Frying Pan on the Hudson.
FIRST READ: High-cut bodysuits teamed with low-slung sweatpants, a metallic silk bomber, cropped hoodies with 90’s-style athletic prints, and a statement trench gave the show a club kid off-duty vibe, while sailor-inspired berets and a pinafore-style ruched crop top featuring a ‘Yachting Club’ print played to the show’s nautical theme. Think Moschino minus the kitsch.
BEST LOOK: A lilac jacket with yellow detailing, worn over green bloomers, a lemon colored beanie, pink hoop earring and a mini backpack, styled with boxing lace-up boots.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The GCDS goose logo splashed across underwear, dresses, earrings and shoes, mini backpacks and bumbags, retro ski goggle-esque shades, and visors combined to create a riot of flashy Ibiza-ready looks, while a suite of wearable separates catered to the brand’s streetwear aesthetic.
