Nick Graham NYFWM S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Memories of 1969, and the celebration of the 50^th anniversary of both the first landing on the moon by Apollo 11, and Woodstock. Designer Graham employed pop-art imagery and floral motifs to pay homage to the swinging 60’s, expanding his signature aesthetic to include a heavier focus on streetwear.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Mission commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin taking a hit of LSD after takeoff while watching rare footage of Carlos Santana take the stage after popping some psychedelics at Woodstock in 1969.
WEAR IT TO: Your next Tinder date at South Street Seaport’s new iPic Fulton Market to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi with a suitor who lists “creating custom lightsabers” as the top skill on his dating profile.
FIRST READ: Astronaut-influenced silver bomber jackets, space suits featuring the NASA logo, and psychedelic “Love” transfer patches channeled the shows intergalactic and festival vibe, while plaid blazers worn over matching hoodies and polka dot scarves styled with clashing prints played to the brand’s versatile wearable aesthetic.
BEST LOOK: A space robot getup featuring a black jacket, worn over a silk blazer with a NASA logo on the pocket, styled with a alient-print shirt, fitted trousers, high-top Dr. Martens, face mask, reflective aviators and a motorcycle helmet.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: A one-of-a-kind 1959 Cadillac Cyclone concept car inspired by rocket and aviation designs of the 50’s and 60’s, junior “Future Martian” dancers from Icon Dance Complex busting out the moves before the show, intergalactic prints and hippie detailing in the form of iron-on transfer patches and pop-art prints.
