Tadashi Shoji NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The galaxy and its gravitationally bound system of stars, dust and dark matter.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kaley Cuoco renewing her vows with beau Karl Coo under the the full moon at Southern California’s Griffith Observatory.
WEAR IT TO: Join longtime CNN space reporter John Zarrella at the Apollo Generation Gala under the Apollo Saturn 5 Rocket at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
FIRST READ: Designer Tadashi Shoji took a literal approach to the dedicated theme of his latest collection via cosmic prints and celestial motifs on chiffon gowns with flutter sleeves and sheer illusion detail and v-neck dresses with floaty ethereal capes. The show marched into disco territory via a silver glittery lurex jersey number featuring a star cutout detail.
BEST LOOK: A silver paillette embroidered sleeveless gown with a sheer illusion tulle skirt, styled with a layered fine necklace and silver heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Silver floral applique on an ivory crepe one-shoulder floor-length dress; also featured in champagne and navy on tulle frock and sheer gown. Also key were a series of ombré sequin looks which closed-out the mix.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Heather Graham, Chloe Bridges, Dascha Polanco, Alex Morgan, Erinn Westbrook.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Would it be rude to wear the ivory Chantilly lace dress to my friend’s wedding in the Hamptons next month?”
COLOR WHEEL: Cream, lavender, blue, silver, champagne, green, magenta, black, pink.
