Eckhaus Latta NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The gritty rawness of the show’s Brooklyn location – the second floor of a former historic warehouse-turned-industrial chic event space wedged between the intersection of East Williamsburg and Bushwick. On the ground level? A scrap metal yard. A band of children provided the soundtrack to the show, which consisted of banging on pots, pans and tambourines.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Lauren Hill backed by a 13-piece band playing a sunset concert at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Long Island.
WEAR IT TO: Flog your hand-picked flowers and homemade baked goods at open-air market Smorgasburg in East River State Park on Kent Ave.
FIRST READ: Designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta served up a mix of crochet tops, tie-dyed denim, and plaid jackets, tops and skirts in earthy tones, while technical pieces – such as a beaded top with minimal coverage – showcased the duo’s boundary-pushing design chops.
BEST LOOK: A sheer steel blue shift dress featuring a diamond print detail, paired with lemon slides.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Tailored separates paired with dainty crocheted and knitted pieces, white jeans splattered in a brown cow print.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “It took me 55 minutes to get to this show – I can’t believe the ride was longer than last year!”
COLOR WHEEL: Sage, petrol, white, lemon, slate, powder blue, maroon, navy, rust, khaki, red, black, orange, chartreuse.
