INSPIRED BY: A subtle nod to designer Brandon Maxell’s home city of Texas, which he paid homage to through the show’s brash use of bold color, big hair and the show’s soundtrack, which featured beats by Dolly Parton, Bonnie Rait and Beyoncé.
POP-CULTURE NOD: The real housewives of the 80’’s TV series, Dallas, amid the Texas oil boom, where every baroness dresses to match their ambitions and ranking on the social ladder.
WEAR IT TO: Your interview for a coveted spot among the elite at the $100,000-a-year stately Brook Hollow Golf Club, where you hope to preen your feathers among fellow WASPs and rub shoulders with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
FIRST READ: Maxwell cited the city of Marfa as key behind his latest collection, which paired racy cocktail frocks with red velvet boots, Daisy Duke satin sorts with deep v-neck shirts, and high-waisted full ballgown skirts with clashing tops.
BEST LOOK: A Charlie’s Angels-eque crisp white shirt, worn open and teamed with seafoam green silk pants, matching strappy heels and a pendant necklace.
