Carolina Herrera NYFW S/S19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Wes Gordon sought to stay true to the brand’s core aesthetic while injecting a youthful, spirited vibe to his first solo collection for the house.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Emmy Rossum posing pond-side at the New York Botanical Garden Ball in the Bronx.
WEAR IT TO: Your first photo shoot as new ambassador of Clinique’s best-selling fragrance, Happy.
FIRST READ: Classic plaid suiting and demure shirt dresses and lace tops with high-waisted midi skirts gave way to the brand’s signature poplin tops, teamed with short shorts and knee-high boots featuring a floral garden print. Also key were an array of ruffled dresses in candy tones and jewel hues, with red-carpet ready strapless dresses with balloon silhouettes closed out the mix.
BEST LOOK: A strapless blue dress featuring ruffled accents, covered in a racetrack print and paired with aqua and white pumps.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Clashing polka dot and floral prints on a ridiculously fun strapless mini dress, jewel daisy embellishments on a yellow coat, Woodstock-ready suede boots with 70’s-inpired flower power embroidery.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Lily Aldridge, Hailey Baldwin, Anna Wintour, Hamish Bowles, Nicky Hilton, Fern Mallis, Constance Jablonski, Georgina Bloomberg, Barbara Bush, Martha Stewart, Jenna Bush Hager, Alina Cho, Peyton List.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I can’t believe Gordon’s only 31 – I feel so unaccomplished by comparison.”
COLOR WHEEL: Kelly green, red, peach, orange, brown, navy, black, white, marigold, sapphire, aqua.
