INSPIRED BY: Set to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Spring, designer Dion Lee paid overt homage to the corset, then flipped the concept on its head by deconstructing the garment and using it on workwear separates, all while keeping in tune with his infamous street-style aesthetic.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Miley Cyrus saying goodbye to her 5.5-acre Hidden Hills Equestrian Estate outside of Los Angeles – which she bought for $5 million in 2015 – complete with its one-acre riding arena, two paddocks, and a 10-stall barn.
WEAR IT TO: An evening of mind-bending mystery at an intimate performance by celebrity mentalist at the exclusive members-only Players Club, founded by the 19th-century Shakespearean actor Edwin Booth.
FIRST READ: Continuing his strength in playing with structure, Lee delivered a collection that toed the line between corporate daywear and vampy evening looks designed for the perennial bad girl on a tear. Think sheer turtlenecks with feather accents, patent trench coats, and ruched slinky cocktail gowns with cheeky hip cutouts, styled with black opera gloves.
BEST LOOK: A schoolgirl-style pinafore dress, featuring a woolen v-neck top, fastened by buttons with a floaty silk midi skirt, styled over a roll-neck patterned skivvy and worn with lace-up Grecian sandals.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Boned corsetry with lace detail that featured as standalone separates rather than straying into lingerie territory, statement knee-high lace-up boots, and slouchy trousers which gave a dressed-down effect to tailored blazers.
