Longchamp NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Travel and an overt nod to designer Andrée Putman’s distinctive signature on the interior of the Air France Concorde via the carpet laid on the runway at the shows FiDi location.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kate Bosworth dashing to a cocktail event at Employees Only in West Hollywood after landing at LAX from Bali, Indonesia.
WEAR IT TO: Your first day as PR assistant to Cochella co-founder and longtime head of Los Angeles-based promotor, Goldenvoice.
FIRST READ: Creative director Sophie Delafontaine cited ‘80s power dressing and the bohemian vibe of the ‘70s as key behind her latest collection, which centered around edgy separates and frilly cocktail gowns and skirts paired with tailored silk blouses and fuzzy jackets with patent leather accents. Also turning heads were a series of floaty dresses featuring a mod-style retro pattern, teamed with clashing wool-knit vests.
BEST LOOK: A black pleated mini skirt with stud detail, worn with a white shirt with billowy sleeves under a silk vest, and styled with a leather belt with chain accents, and stacked booties.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Fresh versions of the brand’s infamous Le Pliage bag, and the debut of the new Voyageuse style: a larger top-handle option that played to the show’s travel theme.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Coco Rocha, Kendall Jenner, Emma Roberts, Kate Moss, Alice Eve, Ashley Madekwe, Jean Cassegrain, Ashleigh Murray, Carly Chalkin, Virginia Gardener,
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Seeing Kendall Jenner and Kate Moss seated side-by-side is literally my everything. I’m done.”
COLOR WHEEL: Black, lilac, maroon, white, pink, rust, cream, yellow, red, orange, brown, tan.
