Rosetta Getty NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Rosetta Getty’s deep affinity with the art world. This season, she tapped photographer Kayode Ojo as the partner to help shape the palette, fabrics and mood of her latest collection. This fantastical match resulted in the “after the after-party” vibe of her presentation in Tribeca.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Milla Jovovich enjoying an afternoon under the Tuscan sun at the Palio Horse Race in the Piazza del Campo in Siena, Italy, before joining the designer for her annual Fourth of July shindig at the Villa Cetinale.
WEAR IT TO: Remedy a case of cabin fever in your apartment by heading to the time-traveling cocktail parlor, Dear Irving, to finish The Great Gatsby while sipping on a Gibson martini.
FIRST READ: Getty delivered a series of getups intended to take the perennial party girl from night to day, and back to night again. Tailored suiting was given a street-style edge by styling a menswear blazer over a zip-up vest dress, while a floor-length maxi frock in cornflower peeked through a classic coat featuring a complementary check print.
BEST LOOK: A striking black one-shoulder evening gown, styled with a single leather opera glove and paired with snake-print mules.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Reminiscent of an L.A. crash pad, the event space was littered with deflated balloons, open bottles of champagne, misplaced chandeliers and racks of clothing. Think the apartment of an up-and-coming Hollywood starlet pre-gaming with friends before her maiden trip to the Oscars.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Is 10AM too early for a glass of Prosecco?”
COLOR WHEEL: Ivory, black, navy, blue, camel, brown, mustard, maroon, yellow.
