Tadashi Shoji NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Tadashi Shoji’s recent jaunt to Southeast Asia. He cited monks’ robes as key behind the tailored draping and graceful proportions of the lineup for fall.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Adriana Lima rubbing shoulders with fellow Victoria’s Secret alumni at the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscars Party at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
WEAR IT TO: Get in character for your upcoming role as Miss Scarlett from Clue at a murder-mystery party weekend at a haunted mansion in South Pasedena.
FIRST READ: Sheer lace gowns with tulle overlay and sequin embellishments, V-neck velvet cocktail dresses with built-in beaded corsetry, and off-the-shoulder ballerina tiered numbers with loads of frills combined to create an elegant lineup sure to be a hit among the brand’s clientele. Some of the more dramatic looks included a one-shoulder silk brocade dress with a ball skirt, styled with strappy gold flats.
BEST LOOK: A striking cobalt velvet midi dress featuring delicate pleating, paired with seamless opera gloves and crystal drop earrings to create a polished, Kate Middleton-esque look.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Column dresses with velvet trains sashayed effortlessly down the runway, while a single-shoulder red gown covered in sequins but-for a head-turning silk sash had attendees posting straight to Instagram.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Elena Matei, Bella Harris, Margot Bingham, Song Yanfei, Tess Holliday, Ken Downing, Alicia Saavedra, Cipriana Quann, TK Wonder, Flaviana Matata, Shi Quing Wang, Catriona Gray, Julia Creus.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Are you doing Elie Tahari after this or should we head straight to the bar for drinks?”
