Zimmermann NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: French spy Nancy Wake, who gained notoriety during the Second World War. Designer Nicky Zimmermann cited Wake’s infamous strength and resilience as key behind her latest collection, while also cater to the trailblazing female in search of a dose of classic femininity in her wardrobe for day or night.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Amber Heard letting her hair down at the WME pre-Oscar party in L.A. after being informed by her manager that she’s landed the role of Jane in Mr & Mrs. Smith 2.
WEAR IT TO: Blend in with the scenery while wandering the Columbia Road Flower Market in Bethnal Green while keeping tabs on the nearby location of your allegedly cheating fiancé.
FIRST READ: Zimmermann delivered an array of the label’s trademark frilly lace dresses, given a street-style-ready injection via leather berets and wide belts, while ‘Espionage’ ochre anoraks, shearling collars, and a sand leather boiler suit teamed with a chain-belt bag had attendees musing over their own secret agent moniker.
BEST LOOK: A ruffle figure-hugging mini dress with billowy sleeves in a rose print, paired with over-the-knee Lycra boots in butterscotch and a matching floral pattern. Also key was a corded lace midi gown with embroidered detail and flyaway neck tie, styled with ankle-tie heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Statement silver leather trench coats and biker jackets, metallic kitten-heel booties, newsboy leather berets and ‘70s-style shield sunglasses in mahogany.
