Cinq a Sept NYFW S/S20 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The hippy vibe of the ‘70s, think Studio 54 for the chilled-out artist looking to elevate her wardrobe ahead of her next gallery showing.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kate Hudson channeling her inner groupie ahead of auditioning for a role in Almost Famous 2.
WEAR IT TO: Take the stage at open-mic night at Club Cumming in the East Village.
FIRST READ: Designer Jane Siskin delivered a mix of ladylike gowns with feminine detail, and polished daywear looks in the form of plunging shirts and high-rise dark denim jeans, with a ‘70s-inspired front zipper. The collection took a disco-ready turn with a satin suit, worn over a matching wrap dress, and a frilly mini dress with puffed sleeves, also featured on a flirty crop top. As always, the collection stayed true to Siskin’s knack for merging chilled bohemian style with an eclectic aesthetic.
BEST LOOK: A lilac midi dress with tie-neck detail, cinched at the waist with a belt and featuring a frill thigh-high split. Sisken styled the look with stacked platforms with ballerina silk ties, an an ‘80s prom-style rose corsage.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: The auto shop backdrop reminded one guest of the scene from Grease, which played to the show’s retro theme. Flower accents on bohemian looks spoke the collection’s sense of minimalist elegance.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “This is the only show I’ve ever seen in a car shop, unless you could the Nick Graham presentation a few season’s ago.”
