Longchamp NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The fusion of sporty silhouettes, a bohemian hippie-chic aesthetic, and the sartorial mindset of the urban city girl creative director Sophie Delafontaine makes clothes for. The show was staged around the Paul Milstein Pool – featuring Henry Moore’s famous Reclining Figure sculpture – at Hearst Plaza at the Lincoln Center.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Alexa Chung celebrating the launch of women’s co-working group The Wing’s first international outpost at the five-story townhouse in London.
WEAR IT TO: Watch the Monaco Grand Prix aboard a tri-deck super yacht as you soak up the electric atmosphere over champagne with 50 of your closest celebrity friends.
FIRST READ: Delafontaine gave loose reference to the ‘70s and ‘90s as a starting point behind her latest collection, which featured a series of color-blocked knife pleat skirts and midi dresses with thigh-high splits, in addition to a spate of leather and suede separates, and feminine dresses in floral prints. Adding to the sportif mix were the brand’s signature logo tees and nylon pull-up booties.
BEST LOOK: An apricot blouse with a ruched neckline and billowy sleeves, paired with a shirred mini skirt with ruffle detail, and worn with black gladiator sandals and a small beige clutch.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Iterations of the brand’s infamous Le Pliage bag – think super miniaturized – tech-friendly laptop bags covered in boho prints, and hybrid sneaker/boots in black-and-white and orange, worn throughout.
