Chocheng NYFW S/S20 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The heroines of 1960’s mystery thrillers Purple Noon and Midnight Lace, designer Cho Cho Cheng crafted a retro collection catering to the modern globetrotting bon vivant.
POP-CULTURE NOD: British model Jean Shrimpton in a headscarf tied at the nape reading a vintage copy of Vogue in-between scenes while shooting a remake of The Talented Mr. Ripley.
WEAR IT TO: Take in views of Cote d’Azur on the roof of Villa Med: A French Riviera hideaway overlooking the superyacht circuit.
FIRST READ: Linen jackets with soft tailoring and relaxed-fit shift dresses in neutral tones played to the collection’s vacation-ready versatility, while mini skirts, bandeau tops and shirt dresses in cotton boucle added a youthful vibe to the mix.
BEST LOOK: A black bodycon cocktail frock featuring Swarovski crystal embroideries and tulle tufts at the shoulder, teamed with stacked espadrilles with ballerina-inspired ribbon ankle ties.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Statement summer shoes made in Spain, oversized wood framed sunglasses, beach-ready straw bags, and ‘50s-style headscarves, worn throughout.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m getting Mad Men-meets-Twiggy feels from the show. Love it.”
COLOR WHEEL: Coral, red, pink, beige, taupe, white, black, sand, cream, rose.
