SHOW: Hellessy – S/S 2017
LOCATION: Pier 59 Studios, Chelsea Piers
DATE: Sept. 8
START TIME: 2PM + 22mins
TOP INSTA LOOK: A poppy-red silk trench worn over matching red trousers and a wide-cuff sand-colored blouse.
OFF PROBATION: A one-shoulder asymmetrical knit top with fly-away pieces worn over wide-leg silk gold pants.
GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A tie-front wrap shirt with billowy, oversized sleeves in white, teamed with an olive skirt and strappy tan heels.
INSPIRED BY: The iconic style of the late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and the sort of getups the fashionable enigma might have sported while dashing from a Robin Hood Foundation benefit to the Whitney Museum Gala downtown.
POP CULTURE-NOD: A throwback to when being presidential was refraining from insulting the general public, the collection inspired images of the Kennedy’s on vacation on their Turkish honeymoon following their private wedding on Cumberland Island off the southeast Georgia coast in 1996.
WEAR IT TO: The Municipal Art Society Gala on Saturday evening before packing your bags for a few days on the docks of Sag Harbor where you plan to remain firmly on dry land.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “This is way better than the circus presentation format in February.”
COLOR WHEEL: Vibrant cherry red, gold and polka dot silks, navy, cream, olive, floral prints.
THE DOCKET: Intent on a wardrobe and stylistic rejigger for her first runway show, designer Sylvie Millstein delivered a collection of classic yet modern looks with clean lines and minimal silhouettes in an array of rich colors sure to make a statement on the social circuit. Inspired by the Amalfi Coast and the pool images of California painter Eric Zener, the collection had the crowd checking their planners for availability post-fashion month for a glitzy seaside vacation – wearing Hellessy, of course.
