TOP INSTA LOOK: Floral silk pieces featured in scarves and dresses of differing lengths, given a retro vixen edge through a strong bold red lip.

BEHIND THE SCENES: Trays off hibiscus iced tea were passed around Chelsea’s Masonic Hall, while Julee Cruise performed the Twin Peaks theme song, ‘Falling’, live during the show like a spirit haunting the whimsical collection.

OFF PROBATION: A white floral silk crepe de Chine floor-length dress, styled with silver boots to give the look at Glastonbury after-dark edge.

GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A double-breasted black trench coat with beading applique and lace detailing on the lapel, teamed with black-and-white gingham platforms.

INSPIRED BY: Retro rock chicks with a distinct ‘50s vibe, designers’ Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters cited Kurt Cobain fan favorite PJ Harvey as the motivation behind the show’s makeup, while the infamous voice of New York’s underground Lydia Lunch sparked the inspiration for the hair. The show marked an ode to those artists that have managed to avoid succumbing to society’s expectations with a fashionable flair, demonstrating power through softness, akin to political messaging through song.

POP CULTURE-NOD: Alanis Morissette on a book tour up the U.S. East Coast, spotlighting her new self-help memoir while performing her back catalogue to overflowing small bar venues in the evening. Think Courtney Love on her best behavior in public before retiring to the VIP section of the Viper Room to knock back cocktails with Marilyn Manson.

WEAR IT TO: Your part-time volunteer job at the New York Public Library then slap on a shade of crimson lipstick and head downtown to meet your own Nick Cave at Arlene’s Grocery in the Lower East Side to rock along to a reinterpretation of the soundtrack of fury and malaise of ‘90s third-wave feminism over $3 IPAs.

OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I can’t believe they got Julee Cruise to perform and in this venue!”

SPOTTED: Gaia Matisse, Rainey Qualley, Kate Foley, Cipriana Quann, Jessica Joffe, Chelsea Leyland.

COLOR WHEEL: Canary yellow, floral silks in black and white, metallic silver, grey, camel, powder blue.

THE DOCKET: Staying true to the designers’ ‘50s rock-chick vibe, the collection was both harrowing and thrillingly rough around the edges, forming a neat bridge between their previous offerings and the more eclectic turning point they’re now appearing to take. With a subtle nod to the Victorian era through ladylike detailing and polished silhouettes, Creatures of the Wind’s latest lineup took the grunge out of rock star and elevated it to the likes of 5th Avenue.
