Derek Lam S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The notion of wanderlust and the American creatives responsible for the site and theatrics behind Lam’s show – composer Philip Glass, architect Philip Johnson, sculptor Alexander Calder.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Jessica Chastain’s off-duty wardrobe while filming Miss Sloane in Toronto.
WEAR IT TO:Â The 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Vegas.
FIRST READ:Â Western collared leather shirts, suede jackets, studded skirts and oversized stitching on tie-front jumpsuits gave the collection a luxury wilderness lodge vibe, while relaxed suits and strappless dresses were more suited to time spent away from the dude ranch in the big smoke.
BEST LOOK:Â A mustard suede trench coat, worn over a striped shirt dress and styled with blue patent slides.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS:Â 70’s style rose-colored glasses and a double-denim look, with a focus on clean lines and easy silhouettes throughout.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “The last time I came to an event here there were three drunk men in their underwear in the pool. This is a lot classier.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Indigo, emerald, black, mustard, camel, blue, green.
