Nicole Miller S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The utilitarian wardrobe a city fashionista might pack on an African safari. Think the sort of thing the plus-one of big-game hunter Clark Gable might don while deep in the jungles of Kenya, ala John Ford’s adventure drama, Mogambo.Â
POP-CULTURE NOD: The production team behind Indiana Jones Five celebrating over Dawa cocktails at the movie’s wrap party on set at Universal Studios.
WEAR IT TO:Â Your environmental support group’s monthly soiree at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Grill in support of Greenpeace.
FIRST READ:Â Butterfly prints on silk skirts and a fern pattern on a bomber and mini-shorts combo gave the collection a feminine vibe, while classic trenches and buckled denim jackets with frayed hems added a hardened rocker edge.
BEST LOOK: A trompe l’oeil print skirt with tropical imagery, teamed with a studded leather jacket and a crisp white tee, worn with combat boots and reflective shades.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Cross-body purses in military green, a suite of boots and strappy heels were more suited to happy hour than a three-hour wild animal safari, while the set design was so elaborate guests were temporarily transported from the concrete jungle of New York to a real one.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “I once saw Miranda Kerr cheating on Orlando Bloom with a stranger at the Rose Bar downstairs during fashion week a few year’s ago.”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Aqua, camel, white, red, green, orange, cream, khaki, slate.
