A Detacher NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Mona Kowalska’s desire to throwback to the brand’s core aesthetic for her final collection – think a “Best of” ode to brand devotees’ favorite timeless pieces.
POP-CULTURE NOD: “Something Navy” mega-influencer Arielle Charnas on a cozy winter Christmas vacation at Colorado’s Telluride ski town.
WEAR IT TO: A hand-woven macramé wall-hanging class during a last-minute weekend jaunt to Scribner’s Catskill Lodge upstate.
FIRST READ: Slouchy knitted turtlenecks with the brand’s signature structured shoulders, layered sweats and furry bombers worn with athletic tracksuit pants and accordion chiffon skirts, while deconstructed dresses able to be worn multiple ways played to the label’s wearability and abundance of styling options (even after Kowalska finally shutters the brand).
BEST LOOK: A cherry tomato red sweater with bauble detailing, worn over a brown and white polka-dot skirt, and teamed with knee-high black leather boots.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: A billowy jersey dress with a trompe l’oeil screen-printed on the front, worn with a black cape and snakeskin demure heels. Also present were A Detacher’s cool-kid shades, which added a dose of cool to the relaxed collection.
COLOR WHEEL: Black, khaki, red, brown, white, navy, gray, mauve.
