If the whiz kids on Wall Street succeeded in merging Anthropologie with British label Cos the end result might be a label reflective of A Detacher’s latest collection, which had a vintage, ‘70s feel while simultaneously being laced with a modern edge.

Like Cos, which offers timeless pieces with a classic yet modern feel designed to last beyond the current trends and seasons, A Detacher’s lineup for spring 2015 played out like a series of hand-me-downs through the generations that would stand the test of time.

Inspired by the world of child play, daydreams and fantasy, designer Mona Kowalska kicked off the show with relaxed fit knee-length shift, covered in a muted color palette landscape print compete with dreamy white clouds, which was peppered throughout.

A suite of roomy shift dresses, billowy strappy camis and skirts were featured in camel, dusty blue and taupe, while a black bikini with high-waisted bottoms – complete with a red flower belt – will have you equipped to perch poolside at Meatpacking’s Soho House for the duration of your lifetime membership.

Continuing the pattern theme was a smart oversized top and demure skirt combo, covered in a sunburnt orange and black pattern and tiny white dots, perfect for your next Tinder date art and wine class downtown.

Keeping with the timeless look was a generously cut, loose jacket covered in stars on a maroon and purple background, so fabulous it will garner complements from strangers through spring 2025.

A standout look was an easy-to-wear summer cotton dress with a strappy rope neckline in camel, teamed with leather sandals, while the more ladylike among us was catered to with a star-pattered cardigan, placed over a black top tucked into a green accordion-pleat skirt with black olive green slides.

Designing a collection with the intention of having the items look second hand is quite the unconventional approach to ideas one would throw on the inspiration board but for Kowalska it worked.

Part of the appeal of vintage clothing is the idea that there is a history behind each piece, and with A Detacher’s latest lineup, it’s evident that a lifetime of memories would attach themselves to each piece for years to come.
