A.L.C. NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Andrea Lieberman’s commitment to delivering functional streetwear for downtown “It girl” New Yorkers with a soft spot for the Brooklyn club scene. Previously citing “what to put in my suitcase” as a driving force behind her design philosophy, Lieberman creates her collections based on an L.A. lifestyle with an NYC sensibility.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Lieberman’s knack for preempting stylists everywhere (she was responsible for putting JLo in that watershed plunging green Versace dress at the Grammy Awards in 2000). Think Miley’s daring dazzler for the opening episode of season 45 of Saturday Night Live.
WEAR IT TO: A backstage VIP meet-and-greet at Lady Gaga’s sultry jazz and piano Enigma concert residency at the Park MGM in Las Vegas.
FIRST READ: Chunky knits paired with ruched silver leather skirts and leopard-print boots stayed true to the brand’s rocker aesthetic, while tailored trenches, blouses and pencil trousers added a feminine vibe to the mix.
BEST LOOK: An animal-print mini dress with a plunging neckline and ruffle accents, teamed with a powder blue blazer with a contrasting collar and black suede boots.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Mixing cozy knits with statement boots and leather pieces was key to the youthful lineup, which toed the line between the edge of London’s East End and the polish of Chelsea’s gallery district.
COLOR WHEEL: Red, navy, black, silver, powder blue, gray, cream, white, mustard, brown.
