SHOW: Albus Lumen – Resort 2017
LOCATION: PIX Studio, Alexandria
DATE: May. 16
START TIME: 1PM
TOP INSTA LOOK: Models lounging on hipster chairs and refurbished wooden stools had the well-heeled crowd wanting to run home and slip into something more comfortable.
BEHIND THE SCENES: The designer offered guests Jalapeno margaritas and finger sandwiches ahead of the labels debut fashion week show.
OFF PROBATION: Gemstone hued suede dresses, skirts, tie-waist rompers and short sleeve jackets. The collection’s sensual lethargy paid homage to the notion of lazy Sunday mornings sipping green tea at your log cabin in upstate New York.
GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A strappy white dress with circular cutout overlay, teamed with a neutral clutch and lace-up heels, think simple garden party summer soiree.
INSPIRED: By the notion of a minimalist design lodge, comfort and sensuality, the sort of getup you might wear on a weekend getaway to a cozy bed and breakfast where spending all day in your pajamas is not an option. The sort of collection Carrie Bradshaw might imagine if asked to pay homage to the Armish period of Rumspringa ahead of her weekend trip to meet Aidan Shaw at his place in Suffrage.
POP CULTURE-NOD: Olivia Palermo’s form of simplistic elegance – think the sort of relaxed comfort the street style icon might nestle herself into ahead of a long-haul flight to South East Asia – first class, of course.
WEAR IT TO: The first winter trip of the season to The St. Regis Resort in Aspen with your new beau, where you’re still focused on looking tip top 24/7 and you’ve relocated your sweats to the back of your wardrobe.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m so sick of my friend sleeping on my couch while she rents out her apartment for $300 a night on AirBnb”.
SPOTTED: Bridget Malcolm, Nadia Fairfax and Kate Waterhouse.
COLOR WHEEL: White, black, grey, navy and sunburnt crimson.
BEATS: Dreamy dance music capable of inducing you into mid-afternoon slumber.
THE DOCKET: Casting a gentle nod to the European summer and minimalist comfort, the designer offered up looks featuring loose layers, long sleeves and hems and equally demure high necks, a diversion from the display of skin seen at most resort shows. Lace up and zip hemlines added complexity to the constructed garments, while tied sashes and undone side seams complemented the winery hues worn throughout. Models lounged on armchairs and stools, evoking the sort of chilled vibe you might be able to recreate in a more intimate setting.
