Alice + Olivia NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The fantastical and psychedelic world of the make-believe, designer Stacey Bendet created a whimsical Instagram-friendly universe inside the Gothic-style Angel Orensanz Center in the Lower East Side.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole after taking a hit of LSD and floating through a Tim Burton-inspired universe filled with a kaleidoscope of colorful foliage.
WEAR IT TO: Your interview for the role as lead florist for the New York City Ballet Spring Gala, followed by a VIP ticket to the after-party at the revamped Studio 54.
FIRST READ: Bendet stayed true to the brand’s flirty and romantic aesthetic through a series of looks in head-to-toe floral print – think a structured blazer, teamed with a full ball skirt, blouse and silk neck tie – while sequined rainbow skirts and silver metallic puffer jackets played to the collection’s glitzy, youthful vibe.
BEST LOOK: A strappy floor-length cocktail gown covered in a jewel-toned butterfly print, styled with a matching chiffon train, fastened with a butterfly accent.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Sequined t-shirts featuring slogans such as, “Go Love Yourself,” and “Strong Female Protagonist,” teamed with ostrich feather skirts and leather hot pants. Adding drama to the explosion of eye-catching details were fantastical floral headpieces and the dramatic set backdrops.
