Alice + Olivia NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Her desire to create a fantastical fairyland in which to showcase her latest collection. Designer Stacey Bendet created yet another of her Instagram-friendly sets inside Root Studios in West Chelsea, with models lounging in a Volkswagen Final Edition SEL Cabriolet, or perched amongst mounds of bubblegum pink foam.
POP-CULTURE NOD: The Powerpuff Girls on a road trip with Travel Barbie en route to Art Basel in Miami.
WEAR IT TO: Look optimistic in your role as event manager of Groundhog Day in western Pennsylvania on Feb.2.
FIRST READ: Despite the packed crowd it was hard not to fall for the delicious mix of flirty and romantic frocks and vibrant separates in Bendet’s jewel-toned collection, which featured a mix of cocktail numbers, statement blazers and frilly gowns, with a focus on feminine tailoring. Taking things in a bohemian, Woodstock-esque territory were a series of tiered dresses and suiting in a paisley print in clashing tones, while brides-to-be were sure to be delighted by a trio of wedding looks in sheer white lace.
BEST LOOK: A ballgown with a yellow bodice and seafoam, orange and magenta A-line skirt.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Bright aqua eye makeup worn throughout, ripped white jeans and a matching bomber jacket covered in spray paint as part of a collaboration with streetwear artist EV Bravado, billowy arm detail on blouses and as separate pieces, and Bendet’s signature full skirt in a fashionista in the garden print.
