Attending a New York Fashion Week show at the Pierre Hotel is the fash-pack equivalent of an Upper West Side trust fund tween’s lifelong dream of hosting her wedding there.
The Alice + Olivia presentation for spring/summer 2015, which was inspired by the modern art installations hosted at Versailles, took place within the walls of the historic New York institution, but there was nothing dated about the designer’s latest collection, which reflected the brand’s playful, fun and flirty personality.
Devoted fans of the pretty-meets-preppy label are sure to have a full dance card come spring, with designer Stacey Bendet’s lineup of wearable party dresses and cocktail frocks laced with a sporty edge
Renown for her commercial approach to design, Bendet’s spring 2015 collection featured floaty, full-length gowns and statement separates, such as a color-blocked blue and white patterned party frock complete with full skirt.
Full-length and frilly skirts and dazzling gowns dominated the high-school graduation-inspired show, while the mix was given a grown-up edge through high-waisted pants in a striking tangerine, black and white culottes – a major trend for spring.
Minimalist cuts and a bright color palette complemented the mostly neutral tones of the label’s accessories for spring, which included black and white strappy heels, a white handbag and snakeskin clutch.
Collarless sharply-cut embellished blazers and clean cut, simple collared tops gave the collection a sophisticated, grown-up feel amid the onslaught of pretty, bold party dresses and print jackets.
Looks ranging from a floral print full skirt paired with a stripy sleeve top  to a dramatic white floor-length ball gown with a racy halter neck completed the charming affair, which jumped from casual to evening-ready with effortless ease.
A standout included a backless black and white dress with detailing at the back, the sort of dress perfect to pair with a pair of black gloves for your next jaunt to Tiffany & Co.
Whilst Alice + Olivia’s spring 2015 didn’t make breaking news by sticking to its signature flirty, feminine style, the label’s latest lineup is sure to have you in your looking damn fine long after the sun has set on your high-school prom.
