Area S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The Russian contemporary art collection, “Kollektsia!”, which was presented to the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2016.
POP-CULTURE NOD: The daytime wardrobe of a former East-London club kid forced to get a day job after his glow-stick business venture flopped.
WEAR IT TO: Corporate networking drinks at The Edition before joining your interns for cocktails at Up & Down. Either that, or seated behind the wheel of the Venga Bus en route to an intergalactic disco.
FIRST READ: A favorite among the fashion crowd for its daring cuts and electric color palette, Area took a bold new direction this season, venturing into casual wear with a focus on dramatic accessories.
BEST LOOK: A white silk shirtdress with red collar detailing, worn under a camel ruched parka and teamed with velcro flats and a air hostess-inspired night porter hat.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Looped braids, metallic shades, strokes of magenta blush on models’ cheeks, signature oversized Rhinestone hoop earrings, silver-plated strawberry earrings with crystal seeds and jeweled flats. Think Catch Me if You Can meets Studio 54.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “It’s so cool that they’ve included the students to help out with the show.”
COLOR WHEEL: Violet, chartreuse, camel, pink, olive, red, aqua.
BEATS: Sasurai by Hako Yamazaki.
