INSPIRED BY: The opulent glamour of the ‘30s and ‘40s. Designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka paid homage to the lifestyles of the rich and famous in Barbados come July. Think Sophia Vergara on vacation at the GoldenEye Resort on Jamaica’s north coast.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Sophie Tuner and sister-in-law Priyanka Chopra hosting a VIP soiree poolside at the The Miami Beach EDITION.
WEAR IT TO: Your audition for the role of dime-a-dance girl Lola LaMar in the remake of Barry Manilow’s 1985 tv movie, Copacabana.
FIRST READ: The design duo served up a solid dose of their trademark red-carpet frocks in floral prints and tropical jewel hues, while flirty swimwear and flowing cover ups added to the collection’s island vibe. Tailored suiting in vibrant shades and statement figure-hugging column gowns covered in sequins and beaded embellishment rounded out the show’s evening offering.
BEST LOOK: A sparkly iridescent suit set in ocean blue, teamed with a white tee with dripping crystal accents and matching pumps. Also key were a series of looks featuring a hibiscus print in seafoam green and magenta: think a one-shouldered dress with a ruffle neckline, a floaty chiffon v-neck gown, and demure mini dress teamed with matching pumps with a ladylike ankle strap.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Oversized drop earrings in fruit punch hues, statement clutches with tassel detail, plenty of floor-length sequined gowns and the brand’s statement column dresses.
