Badgley Mischka S/S 2018 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The all-American socialite making her first voyage to the Italian island of Capri, armed with a wardrobe capable of dressing her from sunrise to sunset, catering to multiple beach visits in between.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Amal Clooney meeting husband George on the red carpet after a harrowing day at the United Nations in New York.
WEAR IT TO: Your day job as a corporate litigation attorney with plans to visit a downtown dominatrix club to satiate your S&M fetish once you file your final brief.
FIRST READ: Gardenias, poppies and bougainvillea were peppered throughout the collection via oversized floral appliques and beaded detailing. Think the opening number worn by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex & the City. The designers stayed true to their focus on 90’s supermodel glam with a series of plunging swimsuits with asymmetrical ruffles and jeweled sandals, while body-con cocktail gowns were easily imagined as red carpet-ready on the likes of Cindy Crawford or Halle Berry come awards season.
BEST LOOK: An ivory embellished evening gown with a floaty train, covered in sequins and spun silk jacquard, styled with matching beaded earrings and strappy heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Oversized flowers and petal appliques on one-shouldered evening gowns. Slicked-back simple hair styling to channel the show’s casual, on-vacation vibe.
