SHOW: Bec & Bridge – Resort 2017
LOCATION: Bay 25, Carriageworks
DATE: May. 17
START TIME: 1PM
TOP INSTA LOOK: Flats and heels with wrapped ankles in rust-colored suede with tassels and coin detailing kept in check with the vacation in India theme, while sexy cutouts and playful ties ensured the lineup stayed true to the brand’s penchant for serving up fun and flirty wearable pieces.
BEHIND THE SCENES: Guests entered the venue to a live art show, with Indian artists drawing chalk mandalas on the concrete to the smell of incense, setting the scene for a dreamlike dance into an exotic foreign fantasy land.
OFF PROBATION: A blush one-shoulder top with a billowy sleeve and trailing ties and an asymmetrical draped hem, teamed with a layered mini skirt and paired with tasseled flats and a single dainty drop earring. Also key were several sateen dresses and backless blouses, while a string of disco-inspired lurex separates will have you dancing away the sultry nights during your next mini vacay in Seminyak.
GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A midi boat neck silk and sateen dress in buttery blush pink, with elongated flared arms and cinched loosely at the waist with a matching thin tie, dressed up with a single earring and the perfect vampy attire for the lounge at a Caribbean high-end resort where you can’t wait to namedrop that you “actually purchased this designer piece in Australia”.
INSPIRED BY: Studio 54 goes to Goa. Fierce, sensual, seductive, the designers cited the Indian sun as their official inspiration, channeling the region’s dry heat through metallic satins and suede pieces in earthy tones.
POP CULTURE-NOD: Think Goopey or her mentee Blake Lively on their luxury version of Eat, Pray, Love in Bali, taken in lieu of a spiritual trip to Goa – and minus the Bali belly.
WEAR IT TO: Sunset cocktails at Potato Head in Bali, where you take delight as you sip your spicy margarita that you’re able to marvel at your tan and enviable legs for days while the folks around you manage their multiple child leases attached to crying tots.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “She hires her friends as models for the shows – it’s not her fault she doesn’t have any international friends.” – in response to backlash faced by Misha Collection after it failed to hire any colored models in its show, which closed with Bella Hadid leading the squad of models to Beyonce’s controversial unofficial African American anthem, Formation.
SPOTTED: Hermione Olivia, Nikki Phillips, Abby Earl, Jesinta Campbell, Samantha Jade.
COLOR WHEEL: Earthy tones and soft pastels – blush, rusty brown, black, lilac, pink, white and sunburnt orange.
BEATS: Gritty hip hop, drum and bass and M.I.A.’s 2007 ‘Paper Planes’ as finale.
THE DOCKET: Designed with the glamorous frequent luxury traveler, the designer offered up a series of slouchy separates and one-shouldered sexy pieces that are sure to make transitioning from beach day wear to cocktail hour glam as effortless as removing your oversized shades. Design duo, Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston delivered the brand’s signature grown-up sex appeal through cutout swimsuits and metallic looks that will be sure to turn heads upon check in.
