Bevza NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Svitlana Bevza’s heritage, namely her hometown of Ukraine’s Kiev, and a subtle nod to ‘90s minimalism.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Dakota Johnson in a body-skimming scoop-neck cream slip at the Marrakech Film Festival.
WEAR IT TO: A twilight business meeting at the Top of the Standard in Meatpacking to discuss the launch of your organic skin-care line.
FIRST READ: Narrated by film director and stylist Pam Nasr, the witty banter and chatty direction towards the show’s models added a lighthearted edge to the pared-back lineup of monochrome gowns and relaxed separates.
BEST LOOK: A strapless white bodcon mini dress, styled under a matching blazer with oversized sleeves, teamed with white and tan mules and a slicked-back bun. Also key was a dress featuring a print of a garden photo taken by the designer, worn under a floor-length hooded coat.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Playing to the show’s ‘90s vibe were legwarmers worn throughout, which Bevza cited as being reminiscent of gymnastic TV shows she watched as a child.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “This is such a clever way to engage and educated guests about the collection, I wish more designers were this inventive with production.”
COLOR WHEEL: Black, white, cream, sage, brown, khaki, maroon, red.
