TOP INSTA LOOK: A sexy mustard velvet slip dress with a jaw-dropping plunging low back, perfect for covering up with a smart cropped jacket before losing the coverage for a sultry night out on the town at the Gramercy Park Hotel’s Rose Bar. Giving the sleek collection an Australian vibe were the black R.M.Williams rocked by the models down the runway.

BEHIND THE SCENES: Dainty jewelry was the play of the day in a week dominated by statement pieces – small star necklaces, cocktail rings and stud earrings kept the focus on the clothes, while tousled waves made it easy to reimagine the looks becoming part of your key 9-5 staples.

OFF PROBATION: A pale pink shimmery suit, vamped up by leaving the chest bare (definitely not appropriate for the boardroom), made nerdy cool through a pair of reading glasses and a bold red lip.

GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND: A floaty moss green dress with loose asymmetrical flounce, perfect for remaining incognito as you flit about amongst the plants at your next summer soiree. Also key was a cropped military green bralet, worn with a ruffled midi-skirt with a thigh-high slit. Riding crops couldn’t keep wild horses at bay with a look comprised of a smart, white business shirt and equestrian-inspired high-waisted full-skirt.

INSPIRED: By the sort of getup Lara Croft might wear while moonlighting as arm candy for Indiana Jones at the annual Archeology Awards.

POP CULTURE-NOD: Think Dick Tracy’s wife’s corporate wardrobe after joining the lads on Wall Street following a messy divorce whereby her detective skills gleaned via osmosis from her husband led her to uncover multiple affairs.

WEAR IT TO: The ‘A Night Under the Stars’ benefit at the American Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium – a strapless floor-length gown and a midi dress with cutaway sleeves in intergalactic prints allows you to dress in theme – a surefire way to snag a spot in the event’s press coverage.

OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I couldn’t find a charger so spent lunch sitting at a café in the aquatic center opposite Sydney uni.” – in reference to the faulty complementary iPhone charging station onsite.

COLOR WHEEL: Nude, shimmery pink, marigold yellow, black and white, celestial prints, navy and taupe.

THE DOCKET: Cropped blazers, ruffles galore and muted silks combined to create a collection likely to please the Sydney fash pack in search of sophisticated separates for their next three-day weekend jaunt to Byron Bay. Central’s Park is about as far as you need to adventure for an urban safari in Spender’s nature-inspired collection.
