Brandon Maxwell NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Brandon Maxwell’s desire to create a pared-back, minimalist collection, driven by a desire to create clothes that made the wearer feel a little bit more protected throughout their daily lives.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Blake Lively taking a break from endless press junkets in favor of hosting a swanky cocktail soiree on her and Ryan Reynold’s 1.8-acre bucolic garden estate in Pound Ridge, N.Y.
WEAR IT TO: Your callback audition as the potential replacement for host Cat Deeley on So You Think You Can Dance.
FIRST READ: The brand’s trademark vampy gowns and red-carpet looks were given a dose of class via a black ball skirt and a halter-neck number in pear green, while classic suiting, relaxed-fit trousers and knits paired with satin balloon skirts added an eclectic edge to the mix.
BEST LOOK: A midi black blazer, cinched at the waist with a belt, styled over wide-leg powder blue shimmery pants and teamed with crystal drop earrings.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Sleeveless black bodycon dresses worn throughout, zipper accents on sporty pieces, such as puffer jackets and athletic-inspired dresses.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Karlie Kloss, Ashley Graham, Bella Hadid, Lindsay Wagner, Ken Downing, Linda Fargo,
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’ve seen more Hiltons this fashion week than a traveling salesman.”
COLOR WHEEL: Black, green, powder blue, white, fuchsia, gold.
