Brandon Maxwell F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Brandon Maxwell cited the dedication of valentines to the women in his life as the driving force behind his latest collection, which branched out from his signature pared-back gowns.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Kate Middleton receiving a bunch of daffodils from schoolgirls during a visit to a Welsh children’s center, before meeting a friend for a bridesmaid’s dress fitting via private jet in Mayfair.
WEAR IT TO: Strolling the floors of Bergdorf Goodman with your fiance to select the bling for your wedding registry shortlist, before hitting the Bridal Salon for an afternoon of champagne and trying on frocks with your girl squad.
FIRST READ: Daytime looks in the form of white tees and deconstructed shirting, paired with treated denim and bold-colored heels, while one-shouldered body-con mini dresses and a series of plunging, floor-length gowns were more suited to happy hour over a jazz night at the Lincoln Center.
BEST LOOK: Gigi Hadid closed the show in a black knit hoodie, paired with a white beaded tulle ball skirt.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Floor-length silk ball gowns given a fresh update by being styled with fitted white tees and crystal earrings.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Yolanda Hadid, Hamish Bowles, Eva Chen, Imaan Hammam, Inez van Lamsweerde, Vinoodh Matadin.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “You think this is a lot of pink? Have you seen the thousands of fairy lights and decorations they cram into this place at Christmas?”
COLOR WHEEL: White, ivory, champagne, apricot, fuchsia, red, dusty pink, black, navy.
