Brock Collection NYFW F/W19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Design duo Laura and Kristopher Brock’s desire to deliver a powerful, pared-back collection with a feminine slant. Think pretty florals with a spicy aftertaste.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Margot Robbie in a modern-day remake of Peter Weir’s 1975-drama, Picnic at Hanging Rock.
WEAR IT TO: Valentine’s day cocktails at the Moulin Rouge after hosting a guest seminar at the International School of Etiquette at the request of Lady Larisa Evans.
FIRST READ: The Brock’s stayed true to their penchant for churning out ladylike frilly frocks with an equestrian-inspired slant, while corset detailing and ruffled necklines paired with lace-up knee-high boots added a vampy vibe to the mix. Lace bustier cocktail dresses played to the show’s Victorian vibe, while tweed suiting rounded out the nine-to-five offering.
BEST LOOK: A sheer white party gown with a bow neckline in a love-heart print, cinched at the waist with a black belt and teamed with demure heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Lace-up boots gave a grungy edge to feminine dresses, while a variety of floral prints on silk and chiffon party numbers showcased the designers’ knack for catering to its brand devotees.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Haley Bennett, Madeline Brewer, Rainey Qualley, Angela Sarafyan, Athena Calderon, Sarah Staudinger, TyLynn Nguyen, Leandra Medine, Lindsay Ellingson.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I really need to get back into the last series of The Handmaid’s Tale.
COLOR WHEEL: Red, white, pink, peach, black, rose, gold, green, navy, yellow, marigold, brown.
