Brock Collection NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: The work of American artist Georgia O’Keefe. Designers Kristopher Brock and Laura Vassar sought to create the sort of wardrobe a model muse might possess if she took-up residency in the Soho French restaurant.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Lily Aldridge taking a stroll in the garden outside her bohemian 1930’s Tudor revival home in Nashville with rocker beau Caleb .
WEAR IT TO: Perch on the VIP balcony for a night of flamboyant feathers, cabaret and champagne at the Moulin Rouge in Paris.
FIRST READ: Fans of the label were sure to be delighted by the string of feminine, flirty dresses in white, powder pink and a neutral color palette, while day-friendly floral prints and stripes added to the wearability of the collection, as did jacket and skirt combinations in heavier fabrics which could see you through fall. Expected to be a hit among the label’s more daring clientele are the range’s strappy cocktail gowns featuring lace inserts and feather trim, styled with Parisian flats.
BEST LOOK: An olive bustier with lace and ruffle detail, paired with a matching midi skirt with lace side accents and a black fedora.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Hats by Nick Fouquet tied around models’ necks, lace-up boots in pastel tones, pointed flats with oversized fabric bows and feature accents.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Melania Ronchi, Rainey Qualley, Carol McColgin, Ken Downing, Nick Fouquet, Emily Men, Alex Badia, Brooks Tietjen, Lauren Santo Domingo, Puja Clarke, Lauren Levison, Virginia Smith, Derek Blasberg.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I still can’t decide if I prefer this Daniel Rose location of La Bourse et La Vie in Paris.”
COLOR WHEEL: Rust, dusty pink, black, navy, charcoal, chartreuse, lavender, slate.
