Brock Collection NYFW S/S20 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Design duo Laura and Kristopher Brock’s desire to mark the fifth year of the brand’s existence by delivering a collection focused on a return to Brock Collection’s roots. Think billowy frocks with a Victorian-era vibe, while floral gowns in an array of silhouettes would be just as wearable to an afternoon garden party as a red-carpet affair.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Keira Knightley channeling her role as Cecilia Tallis in Atonement while auditioning for a spot in yet another remake of Downtown Abbey.
WEAR IT TO: An evening of gallery hopping in West Chelsea before stepping into the glamorous world of Hitchcock at The McKittrick Hotel’s Halloween party.
FIRST READ: The Brock’s make no excuses for sticking to what they do best: billowy gowns with a Picnic at Hanging Rock vibe, corsetry, and oversized sleeves paired with ruffled necklines. Adding to the collection’s nine-to-five offering were jeans and midi dresses with paperbag skirts.
BEST LOOK: A sheer white princess gown with a sweetheart neckline in a floral print, worn with strappy flats. Also key was a cream trench covered in a rose motif, featuring an oversized bow at the front and styled over a mini dress with a layered tulle skirt.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Grecian sandals, worn throughout, drop-waist tiered skirts and dresses, feather detailing and frilly sleeves.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “We should come back [to The Pierre] for high tea before fall hits.”
COLOR WHEEL: Dusty rose, cream, white, pink, peach, black, rose, rust, navy, yellow, brown.
