INSPIRED BY: Designer Wes Gordon’s desire to deliver a bright and youthful collection focused on pushing the brand’s core aesthetic to embrace more extravagant evening wear options.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Olivia Palermo enjoying a glass of champagne on a luxury yacht before hitting the read carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.
WEAR IT TO: People watch from the VIP section at the Whitney Museum’s annual Art Party as a prequel to New York Fashion Week at January-end.
FIRST READ: Gordon churned out an array of popping cocktail gowns and party frocks in candy-colored hues, while paying homage to the brand’s roots in traditional tailoring by pairing white shirts with edgy sashes and blazers with clever draping and ruffle detailing. Also key were plenty of floral prints on trapeze dresses, full skirts, sheer shift minis and plunging frilly gowns.
BEST LOOK: A sheer fuchsia organza shirt with lapel detail, worn with matching silk wide-leg pants, and styled with red heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Gordon’s innate ability to deliver eclectic separates while never straying from the brand’s core ladylike aesthetic: think cobalt pantsuits, bright orange tiered maxi dresses, and demure acrylic clutches worn as cross-body bags throughout.
