Carolina Herrera F/W 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The desire to create a collection in celebration of youthful femininity while remaining true to the brand’s signature ladylike aesthetic.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Emily Blunt on the Parisian leg of the press junket for Mary Poppins Returns.
WEAR IT TO: Rub shoulders with core Parisian content creators and influencers at the launch of your city guidebook over sunset cocktails in the courtyard at La Galcante, a vintage press archive and bonafide treasure trove down a passage near the Louvre.
FIRST READ: Feathered dresses, off-the-shoulder cocktail gowns, polka-dot coats and relaxed suiting filled out the designer’s eclectic collection, which toed the line between looks suited to young Hollywood on an international press junket and ensembles more suited to an Upper West Side soiree.
BEST LOOK: A strapless floor-length gown with a built-in black bandeau and bow detailing. Another standout was a belted lurex concertina midi dress, worn under a black coat with polka-dot patches and styled with black booties.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Closing the show were a series of looks featuring white button-down shirts, teamed with wide belts, contrast-color taffeta ball skirts and evening slippers.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I can’t believe this is Herrera’s final show for the brand.”
COLOR WHEEL: Azure, red, yellow, mustard, dusty pink, green, black, silver, tangerine, orange, lilac, nude, white, emerald, seafoam green.
