Carrie Bradshaw’s Stoop – The Lowdown
On the show, Carrie Bradshaw lived in a $700-per-month rent-controlled apartment on the Upper East Side. The reality, however, is that the Sex and the City star’s iconic front steps are located at 66 Perry Street in the West Village, a stone’s throw from Magnolia Bakery, which shot to fame after being featured on the HBO show. The SATC Midas touch put Cosmopolitans, Tasti D-Lite and red-soled Christian Louboutins on the global style map, but it’s the brownstone’s infamous facade that continues to draw millions of fans to the tree-lined street, much to the ire of its residents. Designed by architect Robert Mook, the landmark spans 4,100 square feet, and features four floors, five bedrooms, three bathrooms, six fireplaces and a backyard. It sold for $9.85 million in 2012. The manor’s current residents preclude tourists from climbing the steps to stage their own Mr Big moment, but you can still snap a selfie in a pair of brand new Manolos.
