Chocheng NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The natural ruggedness of America’s northwest, with a subtle ironic nod to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Emma Thompson as Agent O in the 2020 all-female remake of Men in Black.
WEAR IT TO: Protect yourself from the enemy as deputy principal on parent-teacher night at the highly-exclusive Trinity School on the Upper West Side.
FIRST READ: Designer Cho Cho Cheng stayed true to her penchant for churning out whimsical interpretations of traditional British tailoring via tweed coats and blazers, while wool-knit dresses and silk cocktail gowns with sequin detail and tulle accents catered to both off-duty and nighttime looks.
BEST LOOK: A comfy oversized black knit, worn over a tailored white shirt with a silk pussycat bow and satin bike shorts, styled with sheer polka-dot stockings and stacked t-bar platforms.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Knee-high socks with frilly detail and pom-poms on shoes, worn throughout, played to the show’s prep-school vibe, while embellishments on everyday separates added a dose of glam to the mix.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Joy Corrigan, Genevieve Padalecki, Jenny Albright, Lauren Recchia, Michelle Song, Christie Ferrari, J Alexander.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I’m really feeling the old-Hollywood gist of the collection – it’s very former first lady Nancy Reagan.”
COLOR WHEEL: Peach, purple, black, powder pink, cream, beige, maroon, blue, purple, sage, grey.
