Christian Cowan NYFW S/S19 – Review

INSPIRED BY: Less of a central theme than catering to the theatrical element his A-list clientele craves, designer Christian Cowen served up a costume-heavy collection sure to be in hot demand with the glitterati in the show’s front row.
POP-CULTURE NOD: An edited preview of Cardi B’s new album cover following the conclusion of her tour with Bruno Mars.
WEAR IT TO: Ride shotgun for a night of drag racing in L.A. before hitting up the Fashion District’s Pattern Bar for a night of McQueens and Gaultiers.
FIRST READ: Cowan served up an array of striking sheer ball gowns with cascading ruffles, bodycon dresses with sequin accents, and denim separates with a gold watch print, worn with clear PVC fanny packs containing actual gold timepieces. Catering to the mainstream were a series of tracksuits and strappy lavender cocktail dresses, while a black hoody featuring the brands logo was given the Studio 54 onceover by being doused in silver sequins.
BEST LOOK: A lilac pantsuit featuring a strip of oversized ostrich feathers in a matching shade attached across the body, styled with silver strappy heels.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: An oversized hat worn as a necklaces as part of a collaboriation with Eugina Kim, head-to-toe zebra print suiting, covered in squins, and a body suit in a checkerboard pattern, featuring oversized balloon sleeves and a matching balaclava.
