Chromat NYFW F/W19 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Designer Becca McCharen-Tran’s recent relocation from New York to Miami, and her refreshed focus on sustainability and reducing the brand’s impact on the environment. Case in point: she used dead stock as part of her FW19 offering.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Khloe Kardashian hanging off the edge of a yacht in St. Bart’s before catching a private jet to Punta Mita, Mexico, to ring in Kourtney’s 40th birthday in a beachfront, $18,000-a-night villa with 30 of her closest friends.
WEAR IT TO: A day under the desert sun partying to Kygo at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas.
FIRST READ: Citrus-colored daring swimwear in the form of bodysuits and bikinis linked by neon ties, glamorous metallic cover-up dresses, and a fresh foray into daywear to mark the brand’s new chapter in South Florida.
BEST LOOK: A glitzy gold sheer mini dress with drawstring front detail, worn over a blue bikini and styled with a statement silver earring and strappy slides.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: As part of the label’s eco-friendly approach, models carried reusable water bottles and carried fishnets of plastic waste down the catwalk. Also key were Chromat’s signature bold swimwear designs – complete with cheeky cutouts and the ability to be worn multiple ways.
