Cinq A Sept S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Founder  Jane Siskin’s recent trip to Tuscany and the notion of a boisterous carnival parading through the city’s historic streets. Think Banksy reimagined as a feminine street artist with a stronghold in London’s underground grunge scene.
POP-CULTURE NOD:Â Parisian fictional schoolgirl Madeline all grown-up meets Malia Obama in a colorblock number at former President Obama’s farewell speech.
WEAR IT TO:Â A tarot reading by a toothless gypsy after ballet practice on your summer break in Paris, followed by cocktails at speakeasy The Experimental Cocktail Club on Rue Saint-Sauveur.
FIRST READ:Â Set across the Beekman Hotel’s three interconnected patios, the designer featured a series of looks that morphed from flirty feminine, to menswear, to bridal-influenced pieces, all with a dreamy edge. Astrology and a nod to the stars were key, while ruffles and clever layering gave the New York-based brand’s latest collection a street-style vibe.
BEST LOOK:Â A cobalt trench with a floral print, styled over a grey tee and matching silk pants.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS:Â Tulle ballet skirts teamed with structured blazers, worn with ivory cowboy boots for a rock-chick edge.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE:Â “What’s your favorite – the ballerina, the hoop girls, or the circus performer with the crystal ball?”
COLOR WHEEL:Â Leafy green, cobalt, navy, grey, lilac, peach, red, dusty pink.
