Claudia Li S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: 1990 Japanese-American magical realism film, Dreams, by director Akira Kurosawa. Li’s show, titled, “Dreams — Foxes Live Under the Rainbow,” paid homage to the imaginative spirit of the visionary explorer.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Rose Byrne on a long-weekend getaway with partner Bobby Cannavale and baby-boy Rocco by the pool at Soho House in Miami.
WEAR IT TO: Grab a lychee martini at Sake Bar Decibel in the East Village after catching a foreign film at Landmark Sunshine Cinema on Houston.
FIRST READ: Off-the-shoulder layered dresses, deconstructed shift frocks with cutaway detailing in a tulip print, paired with matching slides and a poncho with mushroom sleeves rounded out the nature-inspired collection, while obi belts, oversized silhouettes and kimono-style tops in a floral print played up the nod to Japanese culture.
BEST LOOK: A black silk evening gown with front-bow detail and dramatic cutouts, worn with white mules.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Tan and black leather shoulder and bucket bags, filled to the brim with fresh flowers in a nod to the presentation’s botanical vibe.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “I need the tulip dress with the bow at the front for my sister’s bridal shower next month.”
COLOR WHEEL: Teal, black, sorbet yellow, white, red, emerald, navy, apricot, ivory, dusty pink.
