Club Monaco S/S 2018 – Review
INSPIRED BY: Head of design Steven Cateron referenced the city-chic brand’s vetted back catalog when creating the latest collection for fall, with a subtle nod to the 80’s via a series of versatile looks capable of easily transitioning from day to night.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Businesswoman Stella McCartney pottering around the grounds of her 160-ish-acre country estate near Bishampton, Worcestershire, while mentally conjuring up the blueprint for her next environmentally-motivated campaign.
WEAR IT TO: Strolling through Central Park to kick about the fall leaves, before catching a throwback screening of Pretty Woman at the Lincoln Plaza Cinema.
FIRST READ: Pretty floral-print wrap tops, pastel accordion-pleat skirts, and one-shouldered long-sleeve dresses featuring a red rose motif gave the show a ballerina off-duty vibe, while cozy sweaters, shearling jackets and houndstooth coats with faux-fur cuffs kept in check with the brand’s signature winter playbook.
BEST LOOK: A sleeveless black blazer with gold hardware detailing, worn over a cream blouse and paired with black leggings and pompom pointed slides.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Kitschy footwear via a pair of leopard-print heels and pompom suede flats. Guests enjoyed sustenance from the Club Café, which served up matcha drinks, granola and pastries.
SPOTTED IN THE FROW: Na Eun Son, Kenneth Faried, Steven Cateron, Niia, Amy Hargreaves, Francis Pierrel, Kate Mara, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Athena Calderone,
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “Do you think the granola from the Club Café is free? I haven’t eaten in like, 24 hours.”
COLOR WHEEL: Black, cream, white, red, grey, brown, burgundy, apricot, navy.
