C/MEO COLLECTIVE Resort 2019 – Review
INSPIRED BY: The desire to create a lineup of bold, feminine looks able to be dressed-up or down with a few wardrobe basics – imagine Kourtney Kardashian’s dream suitcase for a week of keeping it classy in her requisite aviators while chasing the sun on a yachting expedition with Kendall and her model posse.
POP-CULTURE NOD: Think if Sandra Dee succumbed to the swagger of the double denim-wearing boys in Grease, and the aforementioned mob’s undeniable influence on the 70’s and 80’s obsession with the sturdy cotton twill, meets Instagram star and model Rocky Barnes on a tear with her posse on the streets of Beverly Hills.
WEAR IT TO: The opening of your new gallery on the ground floor of the Zaha Hadid-designed luxury condos on 28th Street ahead of the rise of the hotly-anticipated launch of the Hudson Yards megaproject.
FIRST READ: Ladies in head-to-toe red – quite literally – balanced with neutral offerings, such as a cream jumpsuit, a caramel mini dress with ruffle accents and a Breakfast Club-inspired denim ensemble kept chic with minimal accessories.
BEST LOOK: A V-neck tomato red chiffon wrap dress, featuring ruched sleeves, an asymmetrical hemline and styled with matching tights, neck scarf, strappy heels and mismatched statement earrings.
EYE-CATCHING ACCENTS: Prom-esque ruffles and Picnic at Hanging Rock-inspired Victorian buttons, double denim, sporty ties on oversized boyfriend blazers, and zipper detailing on a Cue Clothing-style fresh take on the casual Friday work dress.
OVERHEARD COURTSIDE: “This collection reminds me of Pretty Woman – did you know it’s coming to Broadway this summer?”
COLOR WHEEL: Mustard, red, white, ivory, sand, yellow, black.
